Junior Crusader Football
Boys entering grades 5 – 8
Fee: $220 per student

Registration deadline:  April 1!
Obtain registration form at:  www.jrcrusader.com

Junior Crusader Football is a developmental program dedicated to fostering a knowledge and appreciation of the game that will carry over to the high school years and beyond. Participants will learn the fundamentals of the sport from a cadre of coaches who bring a wealth of playing and coaching experience from the high school, college and professional levels. Teams will be taught the offensive and defensive schemes so successfully employed by Catholic Memorial for the past 25 years.  While we expect the Junior Crusader football program to be competitive, the emphasis will be placed on instruction, participation and development.  At this level we believe learning and player development is more important and leads to winning.

Practices start in August and continue through October and are held at Catholic Memorial's high school practice field. Once school is in session, practices will be limited to three times per week. The Junior Crusaders will provide all the equipment necessary to participate in the football program with the exception of shoes, socks and athletic supporter.

Registration is taken on a first-come, first-served basis.  We attempt to keep team sizes small with a maximum of 30 athletes per team, and as low as 16-20 for 5th and 6th grade levels.  It is important that you register early with a deadline of April 1!

***Current and future CMH Crusaders:  Please request at the time of registration your preference to work with Coach Plechaty.***

Steve Plechaty, head golf coach for boys and girls golf at Catholic Memorial High School, is offering a Junior Golf Camp in conjunction with the Broadlands Golf Club.  Coach Plechaty has 21 years of Varsity Coaching experience with 4 state titles, 6 conference championships, and numerous regional and sectional championships. The goals of Coach Plechaty and The Broadlands Junior Golf Program are to have fun, play better, and play more golf.  There is a developmental program for beginner and intermediate students.  The advanced program is for experienced students who are interested in playing high school golf.

DEVELOPMENTAL PROGRAM (beginners and intermediates):
This program is open to anyone with a desire to play golf. No experience or equipment is necessary. Students are divided into three skill levels. The developmental program is divided between practice days and golf days. Practice Days take place for up to 9 weeks on Wednesday or Thursday mornings beginning on June 13 and last for two hours. A typical day includes instruction at the range and practice green with our golf professionals, plus lots of fun games and contests. Prizes and achievement pins will also be awarded.  Golf Days are held on weekday mornings and allow students to experience golf on a real course while competing in fun games and events. Each skill level plays its own set of tees and number of holes on the golf course. Prizes are awarded in each skill level.

Full Summer Package    $220    (9 practice days, 4 golf days and Junior Championship)
Half Summer Package   $175    (6 practice days, 3 golf days and Junior Championship)
Basic Package                $115    (4 practice days and 2 golf days)

The Developmental Program uses a method of teaching and course set up that allows students with a similar skill level to learn and play together. Each student receives an instruction booklet that describes the skills he or she will be learning during the program. Achievement pins are awarded each time a student passes a skill test in that skill level. After all five skill tests are passed, the student graduates to the next level. The student’s level also determines which set of tee markers will be used on the course and how many holes will be played on a scheduled golf day. Skill tests for putting, around the green, full swing, knowledge and scoring are given at each level. Two shorter sets of tee markers will be used on the course for levels 1 and 2.

ADVANCED JUNIOR PROGRAM (experienced players):
The Advanced Program is for students that have graduated from the Developmental Program, are a member of a high school golf team or have been pre-approved by a Broadlands golf professional. These students play in a 9-hole golf league each Thursday morning starting June 14th for up to 9 weeks. Students also participate in individual golf lessons with a golf professional throughout the summer. These lessons are scheduled individually.

Full Summer Package    $220    (9 practice days, 4 golf days and Junior Championship)
Half Summer Package   $175    (6 practice days, 3 golf days and Junior Championship)
Basic Package                $115    (4 practice days and 2 golf days)

BENEFITS FOR ALL JUNIOR GOLFERS:
Broadlands Junior Golf Program will provide golf clubs for students if needed. Junior Golf participants receive a Broadlands Kid’s Card that entitles them to half price buckets of range balls and free twilight golf when accompanied by a paying adult during 2012. Juniors in level 3 or Advanced also have the option to play 9 holes for only $5 before 8:30 am, Monday -Thursday or at twilight any day (no adult required).
