Tuition and Tuition Assistance

We recognize that it is a major cost consideration for families as they budget for college and other responsibilities. Because we were founded by families for families, we want to make Catholic Memorial affordable for your children.

To be true partners in the education and the Catholic faith formation which parents prize, we have created the Family Tuition Plan to make Catholic Memorial more attainable for entire families. No need to apply; the plan is automatic and it is available to all applicants from both supporting and non-supporting parishes.

Tuition for the 2012-2013 School Year:

Families of supporting parishes:

  • First child: $9,450
  • Second child:  $7,950
  • All others: $6,450

All other families:

  • First child: $10,550
  • Second child: $9,050
  • All others: $7,550

Tuition Assistance

Applications will be available in the office beginning in early January. All previous applicants and all incoming freshmen will receive their tuition assistance applications in the mail. Our tuition assistance program is based on individual family need.

CMH sponsors its own tuition assistance based on financial need. Financial need is determined by information provided to an outside evaluating agency. The agency provides Catholic Memorial with an unbiased, fact-based assessment of a family’s financial condition. There is a minimal fee charged by the outside agency for this service.

Financial information that is used to determine financial need:

  • Taxes
  • W-2’s
  • Income, both taxable and non-taxable
  • Assets (home equity, other real estate, savings, stocks, etc.)
  • Number of dependents
  • Marital status
  • Number of children attending tuition-charging schools
  • Medical and dental costs not covered by insurance
  • Unusual expenses such as nursing home, legal, child support, etc.

Range of Assistance Awarded

For the 2010-2011 school year, the range of tuition assistance awarded to qualified applicants, per student, was $250-$8,350. Each family is required to contribute at least $1,500 towards tuition.

Who may apply

Any current CMH family or any registered incoming freshman family may apply.

Meritorious scholarships

The placement test given in November to all 8th grade students interested in attending Catholic Memorial High School will also be used as the basis for determining the Rose and Louis Scrima Scholarship award recipients. The Rose and Louis Scrima Scholarship is worth approximately $1,500 and is renewable for all four years at CMH.

Other organizations

These organizations may be contacted by families regarding need based grants or merit based scholarships:

As for outside scholarships, there are a few places you may want to contact. Catholic Financial Life and Catholic Order of Foresters offer scholarships to high school students who are members of their organizations. The cost is minimal to become a member.
