WAUKESHA — The Archdiocese of Milwaukee has chosen Catholic Memorial High School to receive the honor of Exemplary Recognition for Academic Excellence. Catholic Memorial was the only high school to receive the distinction.

The Exemplary Recognition Program honors schools that have demonstrated innovation and outstanding results in areas such as academic excellence, educating the whole student, mission and Catholic identity, and technology integration. The program is based on the National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools.

Thirteen areas of academic excellence are identified in the evaluation process for the distinction. According to a press release, Catholic Memorial excelled in areas “including designing classroom instruction to engage and motivate all students, addressing the diverse needs of each student and applying effective strategies for accommodations and dedication to utilize current research for innovative classroom experiences that foster collaboration and creativity to achieve optimal student success. The evaluation committee additionally highlighted the faculty at Catholic Memorial for their ability to use their knowledge of subject matter, teaching and learning, and technology to facilitate experiences that advance and elevate student learning.”

Administrators credit the hard work of faculty and the broad depth of curriculum for helping Catholic Memorial earn the distinction. CMH offers programs such as International Baccalaureate, AP courses, Concurrent Enrollment, a STEM program, and an internship program.
